Since 2003, Andrew Tessier has been mastering the craft of brewing award winning ales at Swans Brewery. During his relatively short time here, the Canadian Brewing Awards have recognized Swans Buckerfields Brewery with 22 years. In 2006, the Brewery was given an “Honourable Mention” as 1st Runner up for National Brewery of the Year. Now that's a fantastic accomplishment!
At a very early age Andrew was diagnosed with “Mad Brewers Disease”! By the age of 17, Andrew’s experimentation with beer continued to grow as he started brewing beer in the basement of his Victoria BC home. Andrew’s countless brewing experiments gave him a firm understanding of the importance of quality ingredients and expanded his knowledge of the complexities of brewing unique and flavourful beers.
Andrew begun his professional brewing career by moving to Vancouver working in two craft breweries; Backwoods Brewing Co. and R&B Brewing Co. During his time in Vancouver Andrew continued to develop his skills and knowledge of this fine craft.
In addition to the “practical side of brewing” he continued to improve his knowledge of the art & science of brewing at the well renowned Siebel Brewing Institute in Chicago.
In 2001, Andrew was off to the East Coast of Canada where he made his home Halifax and began working as Head Brewer for Halifax’s Propeller Brewing Co.
In 2003, Andrew was given the opportunity to come full circle and return to Victoria to brew for a well known local brewery. This brewery was one Andrew knew very well, as this Brewery at Swans had given Andrew the inspiration to turn his hobby into his profession.
